RequirementsTo join of our Chapter, please fill out the form attached and e-mail to info@gisuhchapter.com or turn in during any of our general meetings along with $35.00. In order to receive your GIS certificate and remain a member, you will have to achieve the following tasks every semester:
- Attend three of the four General Meetings
- Participate in three of the five community service activities
- Donate your time or items for two of the three bake sales/fund raisers
- Attend two of the four Insurance/Business Etiquette Panels
The membership fee for returning members is $20.00. You may find out more information about our Chapter, activities, and members by attending our Orientation Meeting held at the beginning of every semester.

Scholarship Opportunities
GIS is a member of the Professional Fraternity Association and its members are eligible to apply for graduate scholarships from the Inter-fraternity Foundation. Certain insurance companies are willing to assist students in furthering their RMI studies at the under-graduate level, and a few companies will provide financial assistance at the graduate level. The Grand Chapter has the Warren L. Weeks, Sr. Scholarship, the Elizabeth Lange/Microsoft Scholarship, and the Anita Benedetti Memorial Award.
Internship and Career Opportunities
GIS offers an Industry-College Linkage Program. Extremely desirable risk management and actuarial internships are readily available for those interested. Employment opportunities in sales/sales management and many other careers are available. Currently, more than half of all insurance jobs for men and women are in non-sales type of work and the need for managerial talent at all levels continues to grow. Regardless of where you wish to live, you will find more than 5,000 insurance companies and countless branch offices and agencies located throughout the United States and Canada.
